Letter from Helen

Dear Lyn,

Thank you for a fabulous course. As the weeks went on the subject matter and strategies got more intense as real and I added many other tools in my tool box.

This week, even from hospital I’ve had two situations with the children and I’ve managed to put in place two ‘Contracts’ as solutions. I’ve found compromises and even finding myself say “I will speak to you however if you shout or swear at me I will end the conversation at that point until you can talk calmly “.

I’ve learnt to acknowledge feelings good and bad on both myself and children and not to dismiss them. I find myself controlling the situation more and giving space when space is needed. Bartering or trading off has even resulted in a tidy bedroom on one occasion!

I’ve realised I don’t need to do as much as I do and have refrained in some aspects and when I do choose to do something, it’s appreciated and thanked. Makes me feel happier too.

The course has been sad, fun and even heavy at times however it has been so useful and informative and powerful and something I will use and never forget.

You and your co-facilitator are great mentors as you are real and just get “it” no amount of classroom training could ever give that, a right comedy duet act at times. It’s fabulous you run these courses as people need you and these invaluable “Tools” you have given not only to me but also my family, as a parent of a teenagers these should be essential to all.

Thank you so very very much!

CEO Parenting Special Children

Parenting Special Children has commissioned RKCS to deliver specialist ADHD programmes and workshops for the past nine years. Through these programmes and workshops Lyn has delivered support to more than 450 families with excellent retention and feedback.

Over the past five years the Charity has seen an increase in complex family situations and co-morbidity and Lyn has had the expertise and experience to successfully equip and empower these families and carers. RKCS’ experience and knowledge is very much valued by the Charity, especially as Lyn is always approachable and willing to provide a perspective at short notice.
Parenting Special Children would highly recommend RKCS and continues to commission Lyn to deliver a range of specialist programmes and workshops for the Charity.

Solutions For My Son

Lyn has advised and offered solutions to my son so he managed to successfully graduate from year 8. Lyn worked with my son, she totally related to his school mindset and what made him tick, and drew up an action plan from his responses.

I’ve attended 2 parenting courses run by Lyn, which were both informative and insightful.

Lyn definitely knows her craft, and has a solid background where she is known by teachers and Senco staff, which is a huge benefit when you require feedback/responses.

Thank you Lyn, keep doing the fantastic work you do.

ADHD Workshop

I couldn’t say thank you enough to this lady!  I met Lyn at an adhd workshop that she runs for parents with children pre and post diagnosis.  I got so much information I felt overwhelmed!  I didn’t have any help for my son at school until I met Lyn who talked me through what my son was entitled to and who to ask to get it! He has now seen an Ed psych and has so much put in place to support him.  I didn’t even know what one of those was until I met Lyn!  If I didn’t meet her I would probably just be on a waiting list waiting for a diagnosis and getting no help for him and he would still be suffering at school.  I’m still going through this journey but I have gained knowledge that I never had and feel ready for what challenges are ahead of us.

‘Who’s in Charge?’ (Parenting Programme)

I thoroughly enjoyed this course and am so pleased I signed up for it.  I learnt so much (strategies, tips, advice) that hasn’t been covered in other courses I’ve attended. I could see positive changes in our family dynamics within a short space of time.  It was a great small group and we were able to support each other.

Lyn was excellent in delivering the course, she’s extremely knowledgeable, committed and down to earth.  I therefore felt very comfortable asking for advice with different challenges I was facing with my daughter.

Lyn’s passion to help families really shines through and I would highly recommend this course.
